Nanaimo Curling Club Fees Worksheet

How do we determine the individual fees?

For the 2024-25 curling season we will play two halves of 11 games each. The first half would go from Oct. 6 to Dec. 20^th and the second half would run from Jan. 5 to March 21^st.

To simplify our approach to the fee schedule, we use a set cost per 30 minute block of ice time / the number of 30 minute blocks per session/by the number of sessions in the curling year /modified by when [day time – sunrise to 6 p.m., evenings from 6:00 p.m. onward.]

In the Day [mornings to 6:00 p.m.] portion of our program

We cost out the ice at $4.50 for every 30 minutes. Therefore the cost of:

[]   a 1.5 hour [3 segments of 30 minutes] league over the 22 sessions would be $4.5 x 3  x 22 =  $297 [rounded to $300]. 

[]   for a 2 hours [3 segments of 30 minutes plus one more segment] we cost the last segment at half price so for a league over the 22 sessions the cost would be [$4.5 x 3 + $2.25] times  22= $346  [rounded to $350] 

In the Evening [6:00 p.m. and on] portion of our program

We cost out the ice at $5.00 for every 30 minutes [rationale – evening times are more sought-after]. Therefore the cost of:

[]   a 1.5 hour [3 segments of 30 minutes] league over the 22 sessions would be $5 x 3 x 22 = $330

[]   for a 2 hours [3 segments of 30 minutes plus one more segment] we cost the last segment at half price so for a league over the 22 sessions the cost would be [$5.00 x 3 + $2.50] times 22 = $385

All members pay: 

[]  Membership Capital Reserve $55  

[]  Club Affiliation Dues $22 [paid only 1 time/yr., if playing at 2 or more clubs, you still only pay it once] and 

[]  if your age is 60+, you also pay PCMCA Dues of $8 [you still only pay it once]

 Club Policies – League Fees

[1]   More than 2 Leagues – if a member registers in 2 full leagues, a 3rd and subsequent leagues will be discounted by 25%

[2]   Missed Date[s] – should the NCC be closed for any reason and your league misses a date, we cannot reimburse for the missed date but we will endeavour to find a “make-up” time 

[3]  all leagues pay for the same number of scheduled dates [e.g. should League X decide to finish the first half on Dec.12, not their scheduled Dec.19^th date, they still pay for a full schedule of 22 games]. [*Friday and Sunday league fees have been adjusted for lost dates due to bonspiels]

* These fees are MANDATORY membership fees to be a part of the Nanaimo Curling Club.

** The PCMCA Fee is mandatory for all Members who are 60 years and older.

*** All fees are subject to GST with the exception of League Social Fees.
