COVID-19 Impact on NCC

Dear NCC members,

After much consideration, NCC’s Board of Directors has made the decision to suspend leagues, practice ice, bonspiels, programs and events, effective 11:59 pm today, Friday March 13, due to rising concern regarding the COVID-19 virus. As advised by public health officials, it is important to make every effort to “flatten the curve” and protect health and safety in our community.

Our curling season will end after tonight's draws. This means that if your leagues still have games remaining to play after tonight (Friday March 13), they are cancelled and will not be made up. The Hangover and Mixed League Year End Minispiels are also cancelled. We have asked league reps to determine league winners based on games already played. Please be patient with your league reps as they make this adjustment and communicate results to you.

The Spring Fling bonspiel is cancelled. Spring Fling entry fees paid will be refunded.

We will begin removing the ice as soon as our icemaking crew is ready to do so after tonight’s games.

All events scheduled to be held at the club in the next 30 days are cancelled. Depending on developments with COVID-19, events more than 30 days out may also be cancelled. The Senior Ladies’ Windup Luncheon, Senior Men’s Division AGM, Ladies’ Division wind-up, and Senior Men’s banquet are postponed. Once the COVID-19 situation settles down, we will schedule a new date for these four events.

We will provide a method for curlers to request a refund for any unplayed games. It will take us a few days to get this in place so please be patient. Members may request a refund if desired, or if a refund is not requested, it will be considered a greatly appreciated donation to the club.

The club will be open at certain times, which will be posted as office hours on the club’s calendar. While the office is open, members may pick up items left at the club or in their lockers. If none of these times work for you please reach out for assistance. The bar and coffee shop will be closed though LiveWire Catering will continue to operate their independent catering business as they see fit. We ask that you do not plan to gather in groups at the club.

We trust that you understand the need for this strong step and we appreciate your patience as we work through the details. We will follow up with updates as developments occur. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact me, our manager Andrea Trepanier, or any Board member. Please follow public health guidelines and stay healthy!
