Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of the Nanaimo Curling Centre. The success and affordability of the Club depends on the volunteerism of its members, who have traditionally stepped forward to attend to the many tasks that make curling at the Club an enjoyable experience. The NCC won Curl BC's "Curling Centre of the Year 2012" thanks to the hard work of our skilled volunteers.

Volunteers are essential in all areas including, board of directors, league reps, bonspiels, banquets, National & Provincial events and much more. Volunteering lets you give back to your club, while enjoying the social part of the game, and best of all, new and lasting friendships are often made at these events.

With being one of the many hands helping out, as a team, you can help:

  • reduce operational costs to keep league dues reasonable;

  • reduce the number of hours required of each volunteer;

  • reduce volunteer burnout.

The NCC hosts an annual volunteer appreciation event to recognize all volunteers who give so generously of their time to make the club such a welcoming place.

As a member of the NCC, each curling season you are encouraged to offer at least three hours of your time in any of the many volunteer opportunities offered. Interested in volunteering? Not sure what you can do?
